Made in New York in 1922, the Steinway model A’s from this era, known as AIII or long scale A, are generally agreed to be Steinway’s best version of the model A. Fully restored by PianoWorks in 2005, this piano is now available for purchase. Well maintained by our staff, this piano will offer decades of faithful service to its next owner.
Measuring ~2 inches longer than the current Steinway A, careful study reveals that this model A is a shortened scale of the larger Steinway model B. The result is this Steinway offers most of the power of the Steinway B, but with added color in the soft dynamic and smoother registers than either the AII or the B.
Highlights of the previous restoration include:
- Reconditioned, original soundboard with new hard rock maple bridge caps
- New, fully fit maple pin block
