Description
Originally designed and introduced in NY in ~1900, the Steinway model O was Steinway’s first grand piano under 6′ in length. Later demand for even smaller Steinway grands secured this role of this model as professional quality and performance for a home setting. In 1922, Steinway introduced a variation on the model O of the same length known as the model L. The model O continued production in Hamburg factory even as New York produced the model L. In 2004, after some realignment between Hamburg and New York factories, the O was re-introduced at the New York factory. Artists and technicians have fun debating the merits of these two similar variations, but both make fine instruments.
