Steinway & Sons 6’2.5″ model A (1974, Hamburg)

Steinway & Sons needs little introduction, but within the Steinway family are 2 separate factories.  Here in the North America, we’re accustomed to seeing Steinway pianos hand-crafted in New York, but for most of the world, a Steinway comes from a smaller factory in Hamburg, Germany.  A few of these famed Hamburg Steinways make it to some of the preeminent halls in the US, but a parlor grand from Hamburg is typically only imported as part of a household emigrating from elsewhere.

And that begins our Steinway’s story.  Purchased in London, it came over with a musician many years ago.  PianoWorks received this lovely instrument in trade towards an even larger Bösendorfer grand piano, and we found a lovely home here in Atlanta where this Steinway was treasured and cared for.

Originally built in Hamburg, Germany in 1974, this pre-owned Hamburg Steinway model A is an ideal companion in any musician’s home.  In original condition, the tone is clear and colorful, the action sensitive and responsive, suitable for hymns and Christmas carols or the most advanced Classical challenges.  It is an inspiring instrument for those fortunate enough to experience it.  This heirloom instrument still has many great years of service ahead of it.

Available again for the first time in over 20 years, this lovely Steinway is practically a time traveler, so good is its condition.  The handsome satin walnut finish is laid out vertically as is the style in Hamburg.  The inner rim is a lighter-grained, book-matched walnut.  The original, one-piece ivory key tops are in flawless condition…most ivory key covers are 2-piece with a joint line between the head and tail.

If new, expect to pay over $200k to purchase an import any wood finish Steinway A from Hamburg.

Includes 3 year PianoWorks parts & labor warranty, matching adjustable leather bench (pictured)

Price: $49999
