The salon grand model 214 is happiest demonstrating its concert capabilities at performances in medium-sized concert halls.  This is where its strengths can come to the fore: optimal sound transparency, sheer delight in playing, precision of touch, unsurpassed fullness of sound, dynamic control and a sustained tonal character that will be warmly applauded. Salon grands rose in popularity at the start of the Biedermeier period (the style in painting, literature and furniture from around 1815 to 1848). During that era, an important role was played in Viennese musical life by elegantly furnished salons where the foremost composers of their day would present their works. During the 19th century, salons developed into exclusive gathering places for Austria’s aristocratic and bourgeois society. The Bosendorfer 214 model is, naturally, also eminently suitable for private spaces. 0.06948628

The 185 model brings worlds together: The world of the home and the world of public performance. It creates a bridge between private space and public space. Why?  Because it can; it is, quite simply, capable of creating this link – in terms of both construction and performance. Its dynamic features make it ideal for more intimate performances in front of a small audience, whilst its sonorous sound is the unmistakable hallmark of a member of the great house of Bosendorfer. That same expertise has gone into its development; the same expert hands that create the full concert grands have brought it to life.  Its responsive touch and unique tonal character mean you will experience some exquisite musical moments in the company of your friends. 0.06781352

Casio's newest Celviano models carry the label, Grand Hybrid.  What is a Grand Hybrid?  Casio deserves recognition for many of the performance advancements found in these newest models, but most importantly, Casio has brought the action out of a grand piano and into a digital piano.  Secondly, they raised the level of detailed piano sound to match this essential grand piano feel.Casio's new Celviano Grand Hybrid, model GP-300, reproduces the finest nuances of the grand piano experience, both in sound and feel. Casio collaborated with elite piano maker, C.Bechstein, to create this new instrument.  The Natural Grand Hammer Action is a real wooden piano keyboard, real piano keytops, all connected to a piano action that replicates the weight, workings and geometry of a grand piano.  The nuances of a grand piano's touch, the responsiveness, the repetition, the feedback - it is all real.Casio's newest piano sound engine is the AiR Grand Sound Source.  The AiR Grand Sound Source recreates 3 legendary concert grand pianos, the Berlin Grand, the Hamburg Grand & the Vienna Grand.  The Berlin Grand, produced in collaboration with C.Bechstein, faithfully recreates the sound and nuances of the C.Bechstein D282 concert grand piano.  The same processes were then applied to create the Hamburg & Vienna concert grand pianos.Casio has painstakingly researched and analysed the unique characteristics of the world’s finest grands to provide the experience of owning three of the finest. Features such as Natural Grand Hammer Action, 3 distinct concert grand piano sounds (from 26 total tones), a Hall Simulator that recreates the acoustics of numerous world-class performance venues leave nothing to be desired for ambitious piano playing.0.01845355

We sell and service many institutional pianos and for their needs, the grand piano stage dolly by Jansen is our first choice.  A stage dolly will allow you to regularly move your piano freely, safely, and with less wear and tear.  Still, a stage dolly in an investment that you will make one time and then, like most people, you will forget about it.  For this reason, we recommend this piano dolly for its high-quality and low-maintenance.More and more concert grands are now using large, locking stage casters (like the one pictured below).  These casters are usually +3" in diameter and are meant to eliminate the need for a large stage dolly.  However, in some cases, the stage dolly is still preferred.  If this is your case, you will need #6544R.  Model #6544R has arms that compensate for the height difference made by these extra-large casters (like the ones pictured). The stage truck reduces stress on the legs and joints for frequently moved concert grand pianos. The rubber casters used on the stage truck are less likely to mark floors. These piano dollies are appropriate for nearly all concert grand pianos approximately 9' in length.  The radial arms extend to get the right fit.   If you are unsure of your order, please contact us. For most uses, we recommend upgrading to the locking casters on each wheel.  This secures the piano even during an energetic performance.0.01845355

Tips For Getting Started Your piano tuner has just advised you that major work needs to be done to your grand piano to restore it to its original performance level. You are now faced with the questions so many people ask . . .how much works needs to be done, where do I go for this kind of work, who do I trust, who has the skill level to do the work properly? Because there is limited information available to consumers, here are some tips to help you with those questions: 1)  Look for a rebuilding shop with experience and technicians who are RPTs (registered piano tuners have met the standards set by the piano guild). Ask other piano technicians their opinion of the technical work done by the shop you are considering. 2)  Have your piano evaluated and have them provide you with an estimate of the work needed. Ask questions and learn what work is needed to bring your piano to its full potential. 3)  Determine if the shop is known for their cabinet refinishing, superior technical restoration or both. Which aspect is important to you? 4)  Review their references, there should be a significant list. 5)  If Universities are listed, know that they have researched thoroughly! They are a demanding clientele with high expectations as they have to answer for the tax dollars they are spending. 6)  Play several pianos rebuilt by the shop so you can assess their performance level. 7)  Visit the restoration shop for a better understanding of how they operate.0.01291748
