The salon grand model 214 is happiest demonstrating its concert capabilities at performances in medium-sized concert halls.  This is where its strengths can come to the fore: optimal sound transparency, sheer delight in playing, precision of touch, unsurpassed fullness of sound, dynamic control and a sustained tonal character that will be warmly applauded. Salon grands rose in popularity at the start of the Biedermeier period (the style in painting, literature and furniture from around 1815 to 1848). During that era, an important role was played in Viennese musical life by elegantly furnished salons where the foremost composers of their day would present their works. During the 19th century, salons developed into exclusive gathering places for Austria’s aristocratic and bourgeois society. The Bosendorfer 214 model is, naturally, also eminently suitable for private spaces. 1.015928

REDUCED!This golden era Steinway & Sons model B was carefully restored over several years.  Originally manufactured in 1925, this era of Steinway is prized for its overall musical capability. This instrument belly work (new soundboard, pinblock, bridges, strings, felts, etc) by a top level NYC rebuilding shop.  The action received all new Renner action parts and Steinway hammers in 2001-2002, and the QRS Pianomation player system was installed at this time.  It was otherwise not played by the owner. We received this piano from the estate with both the action and the player system due for service.  We also touched up the cabinet.  In addition to servicing the QRS player system, we made to upgrade to the current Pianomation II system.  The QRS Pianomation II allows you to play the piano from any web-enabled device wirelessly.  It's a great addition to enjoy this piano even more often.  Upgrading to the PMII als gets rid of the large box usually associated with player systems, leaving only the tiny interface for upgrades.  The QRS Pianomation II is a $7,000 value. The hand-rubbed satin ebony finish is accented with nickel hardware including casters, hinges and pedals. Please visit us for an opportunity to play this beautiful instrument.  Includes Jansen artist bench and 5-year warranty.0.02048826

Tips For Getting Started Your piano tuner has just advised you that major work needs to be done to your grand piano to restore it to its original performance level. You are now faced with the questions so many people ask . . .how much works needs to be done, where do I go for this kind of work, who do I trust, who has the skill level to do the work properly? Because there is limited information available to consumers, here are some tips to help you with those questions: 1)  Look for a rebuilding shop with experience and technicians who are RPTs (registered piano tuners have met the standards set by the piano guild). Ask other piano technicians their opinion of the technical work done by the shop you are considering. 2)  Have your piano evaluated and have them provide you with an estimate of the work needed. Ask questions and learn what work is needed to bring your piano to its full potential. 3)  Determine if the shop is known for their cabinet refinishing, superior technical restoration or both. Which aspect is important to you? 4)  Review their references, there should be a significant list. 5)  If Universities are listed, know that they have researched thoroughly! They are a demanding clientele with high expectations as they have to answer for the tax dollars they are spending. 6)  Play several pianos rebuilt by the shop so you can assess their performance level. 7)  Visit the restoration shop for a better understanding of how they operate.0.01434178
