Beauty of sound cannot be measured in centimeters.  The 170CS model is specially designed for smaller living spaces, studios or practice rooms – which means you can even enjoy the inimitably rich sound of a Bosendorfer in still more places. But what does small mean?  The 170CS model weighs 314 kilograms and has dimensions of 146 x 170 centimeters. A formidable presence. This piano is built by hand using the highest-quality materials. The sound quality in the bass, in particular, and the range of tonal colors are exceptional for a piano of this size. Its action allows the fastest of repetitions and it has a very precise playing feel. The 170CS model is designated as Conservatory Series.  Only certain sizes typically used in conservatory settings are chosen for the CS series, 170CS, 185CS, 200CS & 214CS. All CS models are finished in matte black and share additional cosmetic distinctions.  These are the open music desk, a slant bevel on the front keyslip and a soft-round bevel on the lid.  The construction and performance standards are identical to non-CS models. And the most beautiful thing of all: it is a Bosendorfer.5.68314

Viennese musical history and the Bosendorfer piano factory are inextricably linked. Instruments made by Bosendorfer, the imperial and royal supplier of pianos, were owned not only by royalty and the nobility, but also by the great musicians of their day, including Johann Strauss II.  Johann Strauss’s formal title was “court ball director”, but he was more popularly known as the “waltz king”.  With Strauss’s music, the popularity of the Viennese waltz spread rapidly. Austria came to be identified with this music – and still is today. The “Blue Danube”, for instance, composed by Strauss in 1867, is Austria’s unofficial national anthem.  The Johann Strauss model produced by Bösendorfer today is inspired by the instrument on which the great master wrote his compositions, which is still in the Strauss memorial rooms in Vienna.  With this instrument you are acquiring a piece of Viennese musical history. 1.064097

PianoWorks brings you another great find.  Visit us to see and play this gently used 5'8" Knabe WKG-58 grand piano.Knabe has long been a favorite piano in America.  Established in 1837, it has also had its ups and downs.  15 years ago, a new steward for this celebrated brand expertly recreated the vintage Knabe designs from their peak era prior to the Great Depression.  Original factory specifications were discovered from factory craftsmen that held on to these designs.  The 5'8" studio grand piano is one of 2 true "Baltimore Scale" designs. How do you recreate a hand-made masterpiece from America's Golden Era of piano making?  While many of the original instruments are still in use, underlying manufacturing designs were also instilled into the reproduction.  The sand cast plates were recreated.  The hardwood rims, consisting of alternating layers of Maple & Oak were recreated.  Even the same species of spruce was used for the soundboard - Eastern White spruce sourced from Bolduc in Canada. As in the 1920's, Knabe sourced the best action parts were sourced from America; in this 2007 Knabe piano, the best action parts were sourced from Renner in Germany.  Due to price increases, a new Knabe WKG58 will not have a full Renner action...making this gently used pre-owned Knabe even more desirable. The WKG models are designated Concert Artist for their level of quality, musicality, durability, and beauty.  Many details are lavished on the cabinet from the open music desk, the rosewood cheekblocks and matching inner rim, the real ebony sharps and premium brass hardware and finally to the hand-rubbed traditional satin finish.  All of this is designed to inspire. If New, MSRP for this piano is $30,195 (The Piano Buyer, Fall 2016 - Larry Fine).Includes Artist bench & 5 year Parts & Labor warranty.0.3748193

Hidrau Model, or HM, has been manufacturing many of the finest piano benches in Europe for years.  Now available in the U.S.A., these contemporary style benches are quickly becoming the most sought after for their purposeful and clean design, their sturdy construction, and their luxurious comfort. With this design, height adjustments are quick and easy by controlling a lever.  There are no knobs that stick out, no complex mechanism to service, no linkage that causes the bench to wobble or rock over time.  This bench is also longer (30") than standard artists benches (often room for two).  The height range is over 5" when most good artist benches have a range of 3".  They are perfect for performance halls, for teaching studios (where student after student needs a different height), and they are also great for European uprights like Seiler, Schimmel, and C. Bechstein that tend to have a higher key height. Metal Construction, no wobbly legs Silent Mechanism High density foam cushion for support Rounded edges for comfort Vinyl Upholstery, stonger than leather and easier to care for No knobs, quick lever operation No wobbling or rocking screw-type mechanism Height ranges from 18.25" to 23.5" Weighs a moderate 32 lbs *The HM Hydraulic bench is actually a misnomer.  It uses a superior Pneumatic mechanism with compressed air to facilitate height adjustments.  Similar Hydraulic piano benches from other manufacturers use fluid mechanisms that, if they fail, can leave an oily mess.0.1774684

This is a premium upright piano for less than a premium price.  Nearly new, this 2012 Knabe WKV-131 upright piano is reminiscent of the great uprights from years ago.  The finish is hand-rubbed satin rosewood, making it a beautiful piece of furniture as well as an oustanding performer. This piano's construction combines so many upgraded features to give you a grand piano experience in the space of an upright.  At 52" tall, this piano has the dynamic range and sustain of most 5'8" grand pianos.  The full-sized music desk easily hold your books, and behind the desk are extra sound vents, giving the pianist a more detailed and nuanced sound. The soundboard is a carefully designed and tapered panel of Eastern White spruce, the same type and species used in vintage Knabe, Steinway, Mason & Hamlin, Chickering and Baldwin pianos.  The bass strings all terminate at precision milled brass agraffes, just like a grand. This Knabe upright has a feature rare among upright pianos, a true sostenuto pedal.  Grand pianos feature the sostenuto, but most uprights leave this out.  The sostenuto pedal is frequently used for contemporary jazz and late Romantic classical composers like Debussy & Ravel.  This Knabe upright also features a lever to operate the practice rail, to play quietly. If New, MSRP for this piano is $13,395 (The Piano Buyer, Fall 2016 - Larry Fine).  Save big on this hard-to-find combination of beauty and performance.Includes matching rosewood storage bench, 5-year parts & labor warranty.0.08621614

Many people say Bosendorfer’s 130 CL model sounds like a grand piano; many think it is the best upright piano in the world.  Naturally it benefits from all the expertise of their craftsmen just as their grand pianos do. By definition it has all the advantages of an upright piano over a grand piano: it is smaller and needs less space, it is easier to acquire and is more affordable. The precision installation of the mechanics is designed to deliver optimal playability and maximum control without loss of power transmission. Model 130 CL is a tremendously elegant design and its proportions are perfectly balanced. In other words, it is a beauty.  It is probably the easiest way to share the exclusive, world-famous Bosendorfer name. 0.06219318
