Deborah Marcus gently sways with the music as she sits at the grand piano in her San Luis Obispo living room and plays. Next door, Jay Chester cringes from the sound. The feud between neighbors has led to the city’s revocation of the permit Marcus needs to teach piano lessons from her home. But she’s not ready to give up.

On “Piano Jazz,” the longtime NPR radio show, Marian McPartland chatted and played with jazz music stars. On “Piano Jazz Rising Stars,” a new show that debuts Saturday on ETV Radio, the focus will be on performers who are about to become household names.

Because piano soloists can be counted on to draw people to symphony concerts, the grandest of piano concertos is well-placed on the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra season.
