Upright Pianos

Upright Pianos are also called by other names which refer to the type or size of the upright.  Here is an overview:

• Upright Grands - (60"+ height)  These once wonderfully constructed pianos have not been built in many years, are very common, and most are over 80 years old.  Not recommended for students.
• Studio Uprights - (45"+ height)  These instruments are most often recommended by teachers and musicians for their musical value.  Typically, they have plain or contemporary cabinetry.
• Console Uprights - (41"- 44" height)  These instruments typically have furniture-style cabinets, and console pianos are a good choice for amateurs or beginners.
• Spinet Uprights - (40" or shorter)  These instruments are also very common but teachers and professionals do not recommend them for their minimal musical value and cheap construction.
