When Bösendorfer built the first Model 290
in 1900, it wasn't long before musicians,
conductors and critics affixed the great
piano with an epithet that has endured:
Imperial. Derived from the latin imperare,
to order, command, the Imperial's commanding
tonal presence, expansive range of a full
eight octaves, and superb playability set
the standard by which other grand pianos
were
judged.
Today, that legacy is expressed even more
magnificently in the current "Imperial."
After more than 100 years of meticulous
refinements that pay homage to the superb
qualities of the original design, the Model
290 "Imperial" embodies the best of
state-of-the-art technology, as well as
legendary "old world" craftsmanship.
Simply stated, for range, color, and
unsurpassed playability, today's "Imperial"
is truly THE commander of the concert state.
Traditionally
finished in highly polished black, the Model
290 is
also available in a variety of exotic and
special veneers. |
